Cancer Research Fundraiser Held At Shawn’s Pumpkin Patch In Santa Monica:

Carlyle Financial, in conjunction with the Los Angeles real estate community, hosted the Fall Festival 2013 earlier this month — a fundraiser benefiting the Phase One Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Phase I clinical research and treatment programs for patients with cancer. All event proceeds were donated to Phase One.

The event took place on Sunday, Oct. 6 at Shawn’s Pumpkin Patch in Santa Monica from 11 am to 4 pm.

The families enjoyed a petting zoo, bounce house, face painting, a play area, arts and crafts, food from Sky’s Gourmet Tacos and Funnel Cake Frenzy, and a visit from special guests Elmo and SpongeBob Squarepants.

It was a day of games, food and pumpkins and a fantastic way for families to have some fun while raising funds for cancer research.

“Fall Festival 2013 was a wonderful time for the community to come together and support a great cause,” Carlyle Financial President Robert Cohan said of the event. “It was good to hear how much our visitors enjoyed the event and we are looking forward to our next community event in December.”

There were several booths at the event, including a homebuyers’ exhibit featuring local real estate agents that answered visitors’ questions about the homebuying experience. At that booth, two people won living room sets.

In addition to those prizes, other raffle items included a Lakers shoe signed by Steve Nash, Lakers tickets, kids’ entertainment packages, spa treatments worth $150, $350 and $650 respectively, a Nintendo DS with games, and more.

Carlyle Financial chose the Phase One Foundation as the beneficiary of this fundraiser because of the cutting edge work the foundation does to help eliminate cancer by lending support to Phase I trials and research treatments.

“Phase One Foundation was so pleased to be the beneficiary of this great family event,” said Lissa Zanville of the Phase One Foundation. “Our mission is to fund cancer clinical trials and innovative treatments. Because of Carlyle Financial’s generosity, we are able to move closer to a cure for this disease.”
