Santa Monica Police Arrest Mom Aged 22 For Forcibly Taking Child From Her Sister:

A 22-year-old Santa Monica mother was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 2 after forcibly taking her child from the custody of a court-appointed guardian, whom she injured during the incident.

Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to the 1400 block of Sixth Street at 10 am on this day in order to investigate the report of a battery.

Upon arrival the officers discovered that the mother of a three-year-old child had forcibly taken the child from the custody of a court-appointed guardian, in this instance the sister of the mother.

Furthermore the officers learned that the mother, in the process of abducting the child, had assaulted her sister, then fled to an adjacent apartment located within the same building.

The officers verified the court order, and after confirming that all the relevant paperwork was in order, arrested the mother.

This Santa Monica woman was charged with violation of a court order, assault and a probation violation.

Bail was set at $20,000.
