The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District is launching a stakeholder survey this Friday.
It in in response to California’s 2013 Budget Act that includes a new funding formula (Local Control Funding Formula or LCFF), which gives local education agencies more spending flexibility.
As the LCFF is phased in, school districts must work with their communities to create Local Control and Accountability Plans (LCAPs) that define goals and improvement plans.
Designed and administered by independent technology and communications firm K12 Insight, the survey explains LCFF/LCAP issues and asks about key topics, such as student achievement, parent involvement and school climate.
SMMUSD Superintendent Sandra Lyon said this was an excellent opportunity for the District to collaborate on how to best invest in student achievement.
“Everyone’s input is critical to SMMUSD’s progress,” Lyon said. “Working together is the best way to accomplish our mission to promote extraordinary achievement for all students while simultaneously closing the achievement gap.”
All feedback will be confidential, with responses anonymous to SMMUSD staff. Once the survey has closed, the district will share the results with the community.
Parents and community members with email addresses on file will receive invitations to participate. The survey will also be accessible via a public link on the district’s website, www.smmusd.org.
