Santa Monica College Appoints Lawrence Leone To Personnel Commission:

The Santa Monica Community College District Personnel Commission has recently appointed Lawrence Leone to fill the seat, which was vacated with the recent retirement of Dolores Press.

The Board of Trustees will act to confirm this appointment at its meeting on March 4, 2014.

Leone will be serving a three-year term through Dec. 1, 2016. Dolores Press had served as a Personnel Commissioner since 1998. The Personnel Commission selected Leone from among six applicants to fill this seat.

He has served as a Board Member and Trustee with the Los Angeles County Bar Association, a Member of the Los Angeles County Bar Foundation Board and is a former Chair of the Family Law Section.

Leone is a Certified Family Law Specialist, works as a mediator and Collaborative lawyer, served as a Member of the Elkins Task Force for the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC), is a Continuing Editor for California Family Law Monthly, and has authored over 35 publications for various entities including the Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB) relating to family law, discovery, client relations, child custody and child support issues, and trial preparation.

He has served as a judge pro tem on over 100 occasions and is chief counsel for Island Outpost, an educational non-profit organization.

He is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University Law School and the University of California, Los Angeles, with high honors. His daughter attended Santa Monica College for two years.
