Malibu Man, 60, Arrested At Santa Monica Denny’s For Not Having Money To Pay:

A 60-year-old Malibu was arrested on Saturday, March 15 after inviting a friend to dine at a Denny’s Restaurant in Santa Monica, but then didn’t have any money to pay for their meals.

Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department went to the Denny’s at 1560 Lincoln Boulevard at 9:45 am on this day in order to investigate a case of two individuals who were refusing to pay for their meals.

Upon arrival the officers spoke with an employee who pointed out the two suspects who had ordered food and coffee, and had then proclaimed that neither of them possessed any money with which to pay for their dining experience.

The officers spoke with the suspects and determined that one of the suspects had invited the other out to dine.

The officers accepted that the invitee had in all good faith assumed that the inviter was going to pay for the meal so they allowed him to leave without charge.

The other suspect, however, was deemed to be the one who had possibly committed the crime of defrauding an innkeeper and so they arrested him and charged him with the aforementioned offence.

Bail for this man was set at $20,000.
