Whole Kids Foundation Garden Party At McKinley Elementary A Success:

Whole Foods Market Santa Monica and McKinley Elementary School spent Friday afternoon partying in the school’s garden to celebrate their Whole Kids Foundation garden grant.

Megan Ranegar, Whole Foods Market Santa Monica Marketing & Community Relations, said there was a huge crowd of excited children and families who came out for the occasion.

“We kicked the party off with a bread breaking ceremony and a check presentation from Whole Foods Santa Monica Store Team Leader, Robert Thompson,” Ranegar said. “We went through 300 bread rolls and presented the school with a $2,000 garden grant check…now that’s a lot of dough!”

Chasing Shade strummed with their green thumbs and got the crowd grooving. This band was recently named EcoSuperheros and were a perfect addition to the event.

Ranegar said the craft station was busy for the entire party while Ana, Whole Foods Market’s Customer Service Supervisor, got her hands dirty and showed students how to make their own seed bombs.

“Kiddos colored and took home Whole Kids Foundation seed packets to keep the gardens going,” she said.

Ranegar said the amazing party would not have been possible without the help of Teague Weybright, Kate Knight-Weber, and the entire McKinley Elementary School PTA.

“Thank you to Chasing Shade, Robert Thompson, Ana Solis, Chelsea Dacosta, Kerry Prince, and Lauren Silver for all of your hard work,” she said. “Thanks to our other vendor sponsors, including Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day, Eden Foods, High Mowing Seeds, Go Go SqueeZ, Bob’s Red Mill, Organic Valley, and Cascadian Farm. Lastly, we’d like to thank Adrienne Dickey-Merrill  and the entire Whole Kids Foundation team for giving us the opportunity to party with our local schools!”
