Singer Jerry Vale Passes Away:

Jerry Vale, an Italian American crooner who made a name for himself in the 1950s and 1960s, reportedly passed away on May 18 in Palm Desert, Calif. He was 83.

The singer made cameo appearances in several mobster-themed films and television programs such as Goodfellas, Casino, and The Sopranos.

Beyond his on-camera appearances, Vale’s talent was singing. After launching his singing career in a New York nightclub, Vale went on to sign a contract with Columbia and produced several studio albums from 1958 to 1974.

Popular songs included “You Don’t Know Me” and “Have You Looked Into Your Heart.”

Vale also performed the anthem track for Late Night with David Letterman in 1990.

The singer also has a “star” on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars.

According to news reports, Vale’s passing was announced by his family attorney; he was reportedly surrounded by family and friends.

Vale was reportedly born Genaro Louis Vitaliano.

City News Service reports Vale is survived by his wife, Rita; son, Robert; and, daughter, Pamela.
