The person suspected of stealing a silver Toyota Tacoma truck from a Vons supermarket parking lot in Santa Monica on Monday was arrested within minutes.
The driver of the truck pulled his vehicle into the parking lot at 710 Broadway at 11:30 a.m., said Sgt. Greg Smiley of the Santa Monica Police Department.
The owner was in the market when he happened to look out and saw his truck pulling away.
He contacted police who found someone driving the vehicle within minutes, Smiley said. That person was arrested and the vehicle returned to its rightful owner.
