A 51-year-old woman was arrested and detained under an ICE investigation on Friday, June 20 after illegally vending on the beach then assaulting two City code enforcement officers.
Santa Monica Police Department officers who had been assigned to the Santa Monica Pier were dispatched to the Pier Substation at 5:26 pm on this day in order to meet with a pair of City of Santa Monica code enforcement officers who were allegedly victims of an assault and battery.
The officers met with these enforcement officers and they told the police officers that they had approached a person whom they recognized as being a chronic violator of the city’s laws pertaining to vending on the beach and pier.
The code enforcement officers had attempted to take this woman’s picture with their camera and she had responded by lowering her head so that her visor obscured her facial features.
One of the code enforcement officers had then attempted to position the camera lower and under her visor but the woman had grabbed his wrist and pulled it down to the ground.
She then yelled at them in Spanish, telling them that they were law-breakers and that they did not have the right to take her picture.
She then grabbed both of the officers’ arms and started pulling them toward the Pier Substation in order to report them to the police.
She quickly let go and all three went to the substation to report the incident.
Based upon the testimony by the victims the officers arrested this Los Angeles resident and she was charged with assault and battery.
Due to the fact the she was allegedly an undocumented worker, or illegal alien if you will, she was detained under an ICE investigation and bail was not granted.
