Transformers: Age of Extinction was the most-popular movie this weekend, with its $36.4 million in estimated ticket sales.
In its second week of exhibition, the film dropped 64 percent in ticket sales since last weekend. It has a 10-day tally of $175 million in sales, according to studio estimates compiled by Rentrak.
A pair of R-rated premiering movies arrived in the numbers two and three spots. Melissa McCarthy’s comedy, Tammy, delivered a $21.2 million opener, and the spooky Deliver Of Us From Evil opened with $9.5 million in weekend sales.
Add in the big Wednesday night opener, and Deliver has a $15 million tally.
Rounding out the 10 most-popular films in the U.S. and Canada this weekend, as estimated by the studios and collated by Rentrak, were 22 Jump Street ($9.4 million), How To Train Your Dragon 2 ($8.8 million), Earth To Echo (premiering at $8.3 million), Maleficent ($6.1 million), Jersey Boys ($5.2 million), Think Like A Man Too ($4.9 million) and Edge Of Tomorrow ($3.6 million).
