Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle On Pacific Coast Highway In Pacific Palisades:

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle today in the Pacific Palisades, and the link between Santa Monica and Malibu was closed for hours.

Paramedics dispatched at 3:32 a.m. to the scene in the 17000 block of Pacific Coast Highway rushed at least one person to a hospital, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles City Fire Department.

PCH was then closed between Temescal Canyon Road and Sunset Boulevard, with traffic to and from Malibu was detoured through Pacific Palisades. It was still closed after 8 a.m,

Officers at the scene said that an extensive investigation was underway as the person either had died, or had been medically evaluated as likely to die.

Because the victim was at a hospital, the coroner’s office was not immediately involved, a spokesman said.

A police officer at the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division said police were dispatched to the scene at 3:30 a.m., but provided no other immediate information.
