Learn About Biggest Issues Facing Teens At Free Santa Monica Event Wednesday:

Westside Family Health Center (WFHC) will hold a “Lunch & Learn,” a free community educational event discussing “The Biggest Issues Facing Westside Teens Today” this Wednesday, Oct. 1.

Specific topics will include sexual health, mental health and social media.

The event will take place from noon to 2 pm at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church at 1343 Ocean Park Blvd., Santa Monica.

The Lunch & Learn will feature a panel of experts. Julie Kirk, the Director of Community Outreach and Education at Westside Family Health Center will address “Sexual Health and Teens.”

Kirk has 18 years experience developing and implementing health education programs for community organizations.

Danielle Orner, the Community Engagement Associate at The Trevor Project will address “Mental Health and Suicide Prevention and Teens.”

Orner conducts Lifeguard workshops, which are age-appropriate suicide prevention workshops, in high school and college classrooms.

Dr. Wendy O’Connor, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist will address “Social Media and Teens.” Dr. O’Connor has a private practice in Brentwood, California and has worked in various settings over the last seventeen years. In addition to her current practice, Dr. O’Connor is the author of Teens and Technology – Connecting With Your Teen in a Disconnected World and is currently working on a new book related to parenting teens.

WFHC’s Lunch & Learn series provides free education and information to the Westside community. As always, admission and parking are free and a light lunch will be served. Seating is limited, so reserve your spot today.
