Cessna Told To Return To Bakersfield After Flying Into Obama’s Restricted Air Space:

A small plane out of Bakersfield flew into restricted airspace over the Los Angeles area during President Barack Obama’s visit to the city on Thursday and an F-15 fighter jet was sent to investigate, but there was no indication the breach was intentional, authorities said.

The Cessna 340 was out of radio communication when it entered restricted airspace about 5:20 p.m., said Lt. Col. Michael Jadzyk of NORAD public affairs.

An F-15 was sent to identify the plane and as it did the Cessna’s pilot established contact with air traffic controllers and returned to Bakersfield after being told the plane was in restricted airspace, Jadzyk said.

Federal Aviation Administration Public Affairs Manager Ian Gregor said there was no indication the plane entered restricted airspace intentionally.

The matter would be investigated by local law enforcement and the FAA, Jadzyk said.
