Water Main Bursts Near Farmers Market In Fairfax District:

An 8-inch cast iron water main burst next to the Farmers Market in the Fairfax District today.

The rupture was reported at 6:45 a.m. on a city street at the iconic shopping attraction, 6333 W. 3rd St.

It left five to 10 residential and commercial customers without any water service, said Department of Water and Power spokeswoman Jane Galbraith.

A police sergeant called it a “minor, small flood” and said no buildings were flooded.

Water was reportedly flowing along a half-mile stretch of Fairfax Avenue south of the Farmers Market. One lane was reportedly inundated between Third Street and Wilshire Boulevard.
