Football

Santa Monica College remained winless with a 56-25 loss to Harbor, which ended a three-game losing streak. SMC was behind, 35-3 in the third quarter. The Corsairs scored the next two touchdowns but their rally fell short and the record became 0-7.

Venice High will play its annual game against Westchester Friday night after both teams absorbed Western League losses last weekend. Venice was surprised by Fairfax, 19-14, and Westchester was defeated by Hamilton, 26-23. Both are 1-1 in league play.

Palisades lost to University, 36-19 and is 0-2 in the Western League.

Malibu High lost to Chadwick Saturday, 45-20. The Sharks, who were behind at halftime, 38-0, have a 3-4 record.

Lighthouse Christian of Santa Monica had its closest call in an undefeated season Saturday before winning at Windward, 38-36. The team plays eight-man football and is led by Nate Scribner in both running and passing. The next game will be November 5 against Price at Daniels Field in San Pedro with the kickoff scheduled for noon.

Girls Volleyball

Brentwood has an 18-3 record, including 10-0 at home, after winning, 3-0 over Maranatha.

Santa Monica is 1-3 after losing, 3-1 to Bevery Hills on Friday. Previously Samohi earned its first win, 3-0 over Hawthorne.

Water PoloThe Santa Monica High boys took a big step toward winning the Ocean League championship by defeating E Segundo, 16-9, as Adam Cline scored seven goals. Samohi, which is 16-3 overall and 5-0 in the league, also defeated El Segundo in their first meeting.
