“The Interview” To Become Available On Crackle:

Sony Pictures Entertainment is located in Culver City.

Sony’s advertising video on demand service Crackle announced today that it signed on to stream “The Interview.”

“At Crackle, we always try to push the envelope when it comes to our own original programming and we’re happy to say the same for our licensed content,” said Eric Berger, executive vice president of Sony’s  Digital Networks and general manager of Crackle. “We are proud to be the first to distribute the film directly to consumers in the ad-supported window.”

Crackle, available in 21 countries, includes original shows such as the psychological thriller “Chosen,” with Chad Michael Murray and Rose McGowan; “Cleaners,” with David Arquette and Gina Gershon; and “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee,” with Jerry Seinfeld.

“The Interview,” a comedy about journalist recruited by the CIA to assassinate North Korea’s Kim Jong-un, is believed to be in part behind a massive cyber attack on Sony Pictures perpetrated by agents of the North Korean government, resulting in the theft of unreleased films, personal data that could expose employees to identity theft, and the release of private emails that embarrassed executives.
