A 39-year-old Santa Monica woman was arrested on Wednesday, Dec. 2, after illegally entering an apartment then locking out the resident.
At 3:05 pm officers of the Santa Monica Police Department received a report that a woman had illegally entered an apartment located in the 500 block of Colorado Ave.
The officers were told that the woman was refusing to leave the apartment.
The officers rushed to the scene and upon arrival spoke with the resident of the apartment.
The resident said that earlier he had briefly left the apartment with the door unlocked.
He said that upon his return he saw that a woman (whom he did not know) was standing inside the apartment. He said that the woman had begun to act in a strange and erratic fashion and had also yelled at him to get out of the apartment.
The resident then said that he had left in fear of a possible violent confrontation with the woman.
He added that the woman had then locked the door of the apartment after he had exited.
The officers made several attempts to coax this woman out of the apartment but without success so a locksmith was called who subsequently drilled the lock out of the apartment.
The officers then entered the apartment and arrested this woman and she was later charged with trespass, numerous bench warrants, and a violation of probation. Bail was set at $11,000.
