Santa Monica Assembly Member Bloom Responds to Governor’s State of the State Address:

Assembly Member Richard Bloom

Assembly Member Richard Bloom (D-Santa Monica), Chair of the Assembly Budget Subcommittee on Natural Resources and Transportation, released the following statement today on the Governor’s State of the State Address:

“We have done a very good job in working with the Governor over the last three budgets, particularly in the areas of education, paying down our massive debts, and building up the largest budget reserve in the state’s history.  These are major accomplishments that should not be ignored.

I look forward to engaging with the administration and my colleagues on how to spend our cap and trade dollars to combat climate change and rebuild the safety net for our elderly and disabled.  Also, while the governor appropriately focused on the importance of fiscal prudence and economic stability, we must aggressively address the pressing issues that threaten that very stability, such as our growing housing crisis that is impacting an entire generation of Californians of nearly all demographics.”

Richard Bloom represents California’s 50th Assembly District, which comprises the communities of Agoura Hills, Bel Air, Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Hollywood, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica, Topanga, West Hollywood, and West Los Angeles.
