Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Hale Arts Space is preparing for a stunning group show with open-invitation to the February 5 reception.
The show features three artists whose work is set to color the walls with bright expression.
Harvey Lynch
Harvey Lynch creates art in the form of prints and patterns. The work is focused on the exploration of big ideas, higher levels of thinking and deeper forms of consciousness.
Unique, hand drawn stories and quotes derived from prophets, mystics, sages, philosophers, poets, musicians, thought leaders and gurus – expressed backwards through the written word.
Mary Worthington
Mary Worthington has been making art since she was in kindergarten when discovered that she could copy the tree that the teacher drew on the board. She got really good at coloring inside the lines and has spent much of her life unlearning those early lessons.
She studied with Chris Warner, Susan Hill, and Laddie John Dill at the OBs College of Art and Design.
In 2010 and 2011 shows juried by Laddie John Dill, her work was exhibited at the Bronya and Andy Gelef Center for Fine Arts.
Worthington has participated in four shows at haleARTS SPACE including a one-person show in 2012.
Her work has been exhibited in three drawing shows in the galleries of the LA Gay and Lesbian Center, where she also teaches life drawing.
Susan Price
“I see something and I want to make a picture of it. This has been a part of who I am since my early Childhood,” Price said.
“I work from human models or photographs of people or patterns. I search for forms that interest my eye, sometimes related to the topic of the photograph. My attention is focused on aging beauty, odd shapes, and my family. I love bright, intense color and frequently start with that. Then, stuff happens. I try different colors, tones, lines, and try again and again.”
Price studied art formally since 9th grade and draws influence from Picasso, Vlaminck, De Kooning, and Nyeri, amongst others.
The group show runs February 5-17, with an open reception February 5 from 5-8pm.
