The Museum of Flying will begin Summer Hours June 1st!:

The Museum of Flying will begin its summer

schedule on Wednesday, June 1st2016.  The Museum will be

open Wednesday throughSunday10:00 am until

5:00 pm through September 4th.

The Museum features aircraft ranging from a Wright Flyer replica (the first

airplane to achieve controlled powered flight in 1903) to aircraft of the

jet age.  There are open cockpits in the Lockheed T-33 trainer,

Convair 240, and the Boeing 727 which is located on the 2ndfloor.

Periodically the Museum offers children and adults to sit in some of the other

aircraft on display. Originally founded as the Donald W. Douglas Museum

 and Library of Santa Monica, the Museum pays tribute to the Douglas

 Aircraft Company was that was headquartered at the historic Santa Monica

 Airport for more than four decades.

The Museum has various video kiosks playing rare footage of record

breaking flights, a large variety of aviation artifacts, art and exhibits. The

Museum also features a screening room that runs documentaries, historic

test flights, and notable aviation themed films. For the adventurous,

the Museum also has a full motion Maxflight flight simulator that offers

visitors the chance to experience 360 degrees of motion in more than a

dozen different types of aircraft.

Admission to the Museum is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors/students, and $6

for children aged 3 to 12.  Children under 3 are free. Group

tours are available at a reduced rate with advanced reservations.

The Museum is located at 3100 Airport Avenue in Santa Monica adjacent to

the Santa Monica Airport.
