Letter to the Editor: Salaries of the City

Letter to the Editor:  Are you kidding me? Have you seen the salaries that are being paid at Santa Monica City Hall? Permit me to state: I am a 40 year Property Owner and voter in Santa Monica. My politics would be considered Progressive in most places in America, tho in Santa Monica, I am probably considered a Moderate. I am certainly no fan of the Howard Jarvis theory of “less government is the best government.”  I probably have voted for most tax propositions to aid our schools, highways, etc as well as having supported,at one time or another, all the members of the present Council. Having said that, I am astounded that our City pays a salary and benefits to a Police Chief equal to what this Country pays our President! And the Fire Chief is probably the highest paid Fire Chief in the Country! And the number of employees making a six figure income is astounding. Do the citizens of this city care? And if so, what do they plan to do about it?
