Lincoln Middle School and representatives from the UCLA Health Sound Body Sound Mind program celebrated Friday May 12, the opening of the school’s new $40,000-fitness center. A ribbon cutting ceremony that included UCLA Health president Johnese Spisso, school principal Florence Culpepper and Robert Klein, president of Saint John’s Health Center officially opened the new center. Students performed in the school’s auditorium at an assembly, then tried out the incredible fitness equipment – including dozens of awesome spin bikes.
Sound Body Sound Mind is a physical education program focused on promoting fitness and healthy lifestyle habits in middle and high schools. Saint John’s Health Center foundation funded the Lincoln Middle School fitness center along with two schools in the Santa Monica area. Over the last 18 years, the organization has invested more than $4.5 million in schools across Los Angeles, installing more than 100 fitness centers, training over 400 physical fitness educators and serving over 100.000 students each year.
