Councilmember Mike Bonin, Food & Water Watch and several other community and environmental groups will host a discussion on the dangers of living next to fossil fuel facilities. They will also address efforts to get Los Angeles to adopt a 100% renewable energy future. Organizers will share updates on campaigns to shut down the Playa del Rey gas storage facility and stop the rebuilding of LADWP’s Scattergood power plant. Participants will hear from Porter Ranch residents living in the aftermath of the largest gas blowout in U.S. History.
The event will take place Saturday, June 17, 2017, 10:00am-12:00pm at Westchester High School Auditorium, which is located at 7400 W. Manchester Ave. The speakers are as follows:
