5 Perfect Santa Monica Date Night Ideas

With springtime upon us and those long, hot summer nights ahead of us, many people are planning to start getting out and about more. One of the most fun reasons to get out on the town is for a romantic date night with your significant other. Whether you live in Santa Monica or are just visiting, it’s always a good idea to have a plan in place, so your date night goes perfectly. Thankfully, with so much to do and see in the area, the choices are almost limitless – but we’ve nailed down some of the top ones below. Keep reading for some of the best date night ideas in Santa Monica, no matter your and your partner’s personalities.

Beachy Keen Romance

After all, you’re in California, so the opportunity to spend time by the water may get taken for granted, but it can also present itself as magnificent as the first time you saw the ocean if you plan it right. Maybe you and your significant other used online services to meet and fall in love and had your first date at the Santa Monica Pier or Pacific Park. Revisiting the scene of your meeting is incredibly romantic. If you’ve never been to either place, going the first time is an excellent idea as there is plenty to do from food, rides, and sightseeing.

Shall We Go For a Promenade?

If you’ve been binge-watching Bridgerton like most of us, you know that going for a promenade is a fancy way of saying go for a walk. The characters in the show use the promenade to court one another and get to know each other deeper. Going for a romantic stroll in Santa Monica is easy in locations like Palisades Park or Promenade Park – it’s even in the name! Sometimes all it takes to reconnect on your date nights are zero distractions and just enjoying each other’s company. A relaxing promenade date night is especially significant if you lead busy lifestyles as parents or career people.

For The Athletic Couple

Maybe you already share the love of physical activity, or perhaps you’re trying to get your partner to be healthier and more active. What better and more fun way to get your heart rate up than a bike ride? 26 Mile Bike Path is a great date night idea in that you have stunning ocean views, but it’s an easy ride. The path goes from Santa Monica Beach to Venice Beach and is flat enough that you can ride side by side, catching up – all while working out. You may work up enough of a sweat to hurry home and put on those intimates you’ve been saving for a special occasion.

Be Adorable Outdoors

If you and your partner are fans of stunning views and taking hikes, then the Santa Monica Mountains call your name. The lush greenery is the idyllic backdrop to talk about what’s going on in your lives and reconnect in the best way. Life may feel busy in LA, but the second you’re in these mountains, you think you have been transported to another world. With everything going on in the world these days, not to mention in our private lives, getting away is what we all need. So, in between vacations, “escape” to the mountains after just a short drive.

Cooking Dinner At Home

You don’t have to be a foodie to find cooking a relaxing and perfect date night activity. Visit the Santa Monica Farmers Market to pick up some fresh, local produce and create a culinary masterpiece together. Not to mention some of the best wines in the world come from California, so keep your beverages local for the evening. Become inspired by the seasonal ingredients you two select while strolling the aisles of the farmers market and enjoy a cozy night in.

Relationships take a lot of work, no matter how ideal the circumstance. Taking time to prioritize your partner often will make things better for you, even if you have to rearrange calendars to make it happen. If you’ve been having a hard time coming up with the perfect date idea in Santa Monica, let the above be your guide to planning the perfect evening. Cheers!
