Santa Monica City Council To Tackle Numerous Issues at the July 18 Meeting

Construction Contracts, Grant Acceptance, Community Initiatives, And More

In the first meeting of July,  the Santa Monica City Council is set to meet on July 18 to deliberate on a range of significant matters. From construction contracts to grant acceptance and community initiatives, the Council has a packed agenda awaiting its attention. Among the items to be considered are:

  1. Awarding a construction contract for the Street Lighting Modernization Program – Package 3, aimed at enhancing street lighting infrastructure.
  2. Grant acceptance approval for the State Homeland Security Program (SHSP) Award for 2022, supporting local security efforts.
  3. Entering into an agreement with TeamCivX for strategic advisory and communication services.
  4. Awarding a Request for Proposal (RFP) to Geoscience Support Services, Inc. for on-call hydrogeological services.
  5. Modifying the agreement with Safeguard US Inc. to provide fall protection services.
  6. Accepting FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) and authorizing the purchase of automated chest compression devices.
  7. Approving a contract modification with Gafcon for citywide state and federal labor compliance and certified payroll monitoring.
  8. Modifying the construction contract with Hathaway Dinwiddie for the City Yards Modernization Project.
  9. Authorizing a modification to Contract No. 10684 (CCS) with West Coast Care Foundation for homeless outreach services.
  10. Receiving an update and taking action to advance racial justice, equity, and social diversity.
  11. Making annual appointments to various Boards and Commissions.
  12. Introducing and conducting the first reading of an ordinance amending the Zoning Ordinance to provide incentives for certain housing projects.
  13. Amending Santa Monica Municipal Code 7.18.040 for well prohibition in the city.
  14. Approving the City of Santa Monica Legislative Platform for Fiscal Years 2023-2025.
  15. Responding to the request of Councilmember Zwick, Mayor Davis, and Councilmember Torosis regarding an electric bike point-of-sale subsidy program for low- and moderate-income Santa Monica residents.
  16. Appointing two Councilmembers to vacancies on the Audit Subcommittee.

These items cover a wide range of issues relevant to the Santa Monica community, including infrastructure, public safety, housing, environmental initiatives, and social justice.
