Residents Can Participate Through Survey and Public Meetings
The city of Santa Monica is inviting public participation in shaping its Fiscal Year 2025-27 Operating Budget through community meetings and an online survey. The survey, available in English and Spanish, will be open through Feb. 17, allowing residents to provide input on budget priorities.
Community engagement sessions are scheduled where the city will discuss budget outlooks and gather feedback. These meetings will occur on Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. at the Main Library Multipurpose Room at 601 Santa Monica Blvd., and on Feb. 13 with two sessions: one at 6 p.m. via a virtual webinar, and another at 7:30 p.m. at the Virginia Avenue Park Thelma Terry Building at 2200 Virginia Ave. Spanish interpretation services will be provided at all meetings.
Mayor Lana Negrete has urged all residents and business owners to participate, highlighting that the feedback will directly influence the city’s financial planning for the next two years. She noted, “I encourage all residents and business owners to share their thoughts and ideas and be educated about the city’s budget realities. This process shapes the next two years of spending in our city and the City Council values everyone’s involvement.”
All community input will be shared with the Santa Monica City Council before the proposed budget is developed. More information and the survey can be accessed at santamonica.gov/santa-monica-budget
