LA Bakery Walk strides through the Westside:13.1 Miles, five excellent bakeries

Community event pairs half-marathon route with stops at top local bakeries.

More than 100 participants are expected to walk together through Santa Monica, Venice, and the Westside this weekend as part of the LA Bakery Walk, a community-driven event that blends distance walking with stops at local bakeries.

The 13.1-mile route, scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 22, will guide participants through both neighborhoods with planned visits to Manifold, Petitgrain Boulangerie, Häsi Bread, Chaumont, Chaumont Vegan, and Fat + Flour. Organizers said more than 2,000 people signed up through Instagram for the latest walk, with attendees selected by lottery.

LA Bakery Walk was founded by Irene Chang as a way to combine long-distance walking with support for small, independent bakeries. What began as solo outings has evolved into a recurring social event that encourages participants to connect through food, movement, and shared discovery.

The group uses Instagram to coordinate sign-ups and foster community engagement before and after each walk. Organizers say the event promotes walkability while introducing residents to neighborhood businesses they might not otherwise encounter.

Additional details and future walk announcements are available on Instagram at @labakerywalk.
