Cayton Children’s Museum launches weekly parent and family learning nights in Santa Monica

New partnership with Connections for Children brings Parent Cafés and PBS SoCal Family Math Workshops to Cayton.

Weekly evening programs for parents and caregivers will launch this month at Cayton Children’s Museum in Santa Monica through a new partnership with the nonprofit Connections for Children.

Beginning March 11, the museum will host alternating Parent Cafés and PBS SoCal Family Math Workshops on Wednesday evenings. The programs are designed to support families with young children by offering practical guidance, shared conversation, and hands-on learning experiences.

Organizers say the series is intended for families with children ages 2 to 5, focusing on strengthening caregiver confidence, building family resilience, and encouraging early learning through play-based, research-informed activities. Participants will also receive complimentary one-day passes to Cayton Children’s Museum to use with their children at a later date.

“We think about supporting the whole family, not just the child,” said Thomas Sullivan, President and CEO of Cayton Children’s Museum. “Connections for Children is one of the most trusted organizations serving families in our community, so partnering with them to bring this program to life was an easy decision. This collaboration reinforces our commitment to being a true resource for parents and caregivers, and we couldn’t have chosen a better partner to bring these programs to life.”

The events will take place at Cayton Children’s Museum, 395 Santa Monica Place, Suite 374 (Level 3), Santa Monica. Space is limited, and advance registration is required.

Parent Cafés, available in English and Spanish, feature facilitated conversations that encourage parents and caregivers to share experiences, build support networks, and discuss strategies for strengthening family relationships. PBS SoCal Family Math Workshops provide hands-on activities designed to help caregivers build confidence supporting early math skills through playful learning at home.

The first programs in the series include “Parent Café: Sharing Stories, Strengthening Families” on March 11, followed by a PBS SoCal Family Math Workshop on March 18.You can make a reservation for Parent Cafe here and the PBS SoCal Family Math Workshop here.
