Officials said the suspect is known to Buckingham and has previously been the subject of the LAPD’s Threat Management Unit
Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Lindsey Buckingham was targeted in an incident involving a suspected stalker Wednesday morning in Santa Monica, The Los Angeles Times reported.
The Los Angeles Police Department told the newspaper that a woman with a documented history of stalking the 76-year-old musician threw an unknown substance from a container in his direction as he arrived at a building for a scheduled appointment. Buckingham was not injured.
Law enforcement officials said the suspect is known to Buckingham and has previously been the subject of action by the LAPD’s Threat Management Unit. Investigators believe the woman obtained information about the time and location of the musician’s appointment in advance.
The suspect was not taken into custody at the scene, but police indicated an arrest is expected.
“The Los Angeles Police Department, Threat Management Unit, is working with the Santa Monica Police Department to investigate the incident,” LAPD Capt. Mike Bland told the Times in a statement.
