A special one-night theatrical screening of the sci-fi comedy features a live panel on the film and its outlook on AI.
Oscar-winning director Gore Verbinski and screenwriter Matthew Robinson will make a live appearance at Landmark’s Nuart Theatre on Thursday, July 16, to discuss their sci-fi action comedy, Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die.
The one-night special screening and Q&A session are scheduled to coincide with “AI Appreciation Day.” However, the theater billed the event as an “AI Un-Appreciation Day,” offering a satirical counter-celebration centered on the film’s premise of an artificial-intelligence created apocalypse.
The feature-length film follows a desperate time traveler who bursts into a crowded diner, claiming to have traveled back from the future 117 times to prevent a world-ending AI takeover. To save humanity from algorithmic ruin and the dangers of social media, he must recruit a highly skeptical, mismatched group of diner patrons from Norm’s Restaurant.
The film features an ensemble cast, including Haley Lu Richardson, Michael Peña, Zazie Beetz, Asim Chaudhry, and Juno Temple.
The special screening is scheduled for 7 p.m., with the Q&A featuring Verbinski, Robinson, and unannounced special guests immediately following the film.
