The off-price retailer announced the expansion Wednesday along with a second new California location in Torrance.

Nordstrom Rack plans to open a new 30,000-square-foot store at Marina Marketplace in Marina del Rey in spring 2027.

The off-price retailer announced the expansion Wednesday along with a second new California location in Torrance, scheduled to open in summer 2027.

“We look forward to being a part of the Marina del Rey community and serving our customers with an amazing offering of great brands at great prices,” Gemma Lionello, president of Nordstrom Rack, said in a statement.

The move marks the second time within a year that a major retailer shifted toward Marina del Rey from Santa Monica. In April, Anthropologie announced it would close its Third Street Promenade location in Santa Monica and relocate to the Waterside shopping area in Marina del Rey. Last year, Nordstrom closed its Santa Monica store at 220 Broadway, reflecting broader challenges facing the Santa Monica Place mall. At the time, a spokesperson said the closure was “a strategic realignment,” and that the company could “better meet customer needs outside the current location.”

The store at Marina Marketplace, located off Route 90 and Lincoln Boulevard, will offer convenient services including online order pickup from both Nordstrom.com and NordstromRack.com, along with easy returns.

Marina Marketplace is anchored by Gelson’s, Equinox and an AMC Dine-In Theatre.

“The Los Angeles retail market continues to see growth from retailers like Nordstrom looking for anchor space in vibrant areas,” said Scott Burns, JLL senior managing director, in a release. “Marina Marketplace is the ideal location for Nordstrom Rack to serve its customers in coastal communities surrounding Marina del Rey.”

Nordstrom Rack is the off-price division of Nordstrom, Inc., offering apparel, accessories, beauty, home goods and shoes. The company currently operates 69 Nordstrom Rack stores in California as part of a broader footprint that includes 26 full-line Nordstrom stores statewide.
