Temporary route change aims to improve transit access to Venice Beach on July 10-11.
The Los Angeles County Topanga Beach Bus will add a temporary stop near the official Venice Beach Fan Zone on Friday and Saturday to accommodate increased travel during World Cup festivities.
The additional stop at Windward Avenue and Main Street will operate July 10 and 11, providing a direct transit connection between the San Fernando Valley and the Venice Beach Fan Zone while continuing regular service to Topanga Beach, according to Los Angeles County officials.
On Friday, three scheduled bus trips will be extended to Venice Beach. On Saturday, service will begin at 1 p.m. and include a 10:10 p.m. return trip to the San Fernando Valley to accommodate spectators attending the evening World Cup match.
County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath announced the temporary service expansion Thursday, saying it is intended to provide an alternative to driving as large crowds are expected in Venice during the tournament.
County officials said the modified route was developed in coordination with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works to help manage traffic, provide additional transit options and improve access to the fan zone.
