The Ride Down Mt. Morgan, Arthur Miller’s look at the state of modern marriage, opened July 30 at Theatricum Botanicum in Topanga Canyon and will run through October 8.
When Lyman Felt, a rich and powerful businessman who has successfully juggled dual lives and dual wives, has an automobile accident, he winds up in the hospital, both of his wives turn up in the waiting room, and, as they say, complications ensue.
Directed by Heidi Helen Davis, the play features Ellen Geer, Willow Geer, William Dennis Hunt, Stephen Macht, Melora Marshall and Earnestine Phillips
Miller was 80 when he wrote this comedic take on life among the rich and duplicitous in Ronald Reagan’s America of the 1980s. It premiered in London, and made its American debut at the Williamstown Theatre Festival with F. Murray Abraham, Michael Learned and Patricia Clarkson as the man and his two wives.
A pre-show discussion has been scheduled for Sunday, August 7 at 6:30 p.m.
The Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum is located at 1419 North Topanga Canyon Boulevard. Its outdoor amphitheater is terraced into the hillside of the canyon. Audience members are advised to dress casually (warmly for evenings) and bring cushions for bench seating.
