Drunk Homeless Woman Arrested In Santa Monica After Causing A Scene:

Latest police, crime and courts news.

A 50-year-old homeless woman was arrested on Saturday, May 16, for being drunk in public and refusing to answer questions from a Santa Monica police officer.

An officer of the Santa Monica Police Department responded at 6:15 pm to a report of trespass in the 1800 block of Lincoln Boulevard.

When the officer arrived he noticed a woman walking through traffic on the street in his direction.

As this woman was approaching the officer another woman, in a wheelchair, across the street, began to gesticulate wildly and yell in the direction of the officer.

The officer then received a radio call from dispatch informing him that they had also received a report of a possible assault and battery in the area between two women.

The woman who had been walking through the traffic was by that time strolling right by the officer so the officer asked the woman if she had been involved in a fight.

The woman then told the officer that she was innocent of everything and didn’t wish to have any dealings with the woman in the wheelchair across the street.

The officer was about to ask this woman some more questions but the woman began to walk away while yelling various meaningless phrases and refused to respond to the officers’ requests to stop.

The officer eventually handcuffed this woman and she was arrested and later charged with public intoxication, willfully obstructing an investigation, and violation of probation.

Bail was set at $10,000.

Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of The Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages of the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com.
