Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Investigates as Suspect’s Speed Exceeds 100 MPH

The City of Malibu witnessed yet another significant high-speed traffic collision on Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) involving four vehicles near Big Rock Drive on Thursday, Jan. 4, in another unfortunate incident. As per the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, speed played a role in the incident.
The suspected driver was believed to have exceeded 100 MPH and fled the scene on foot post-collision. Numerous individuals reported minor to moderate injuries, but thankfully, there were no fatalities. The City of Malibu extends its good wishes for a speedy and complete recovery to those affected.
This is not the only serious accident on PCH in the last month; tragically, on the evening of December 24, 2023, a motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a passenger car on Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) south of Leo Carrillo State Beach in Malibu.
Despite PCH being a state highway under Caltrans jurisdiction, the City remains dedicated to enhancing safety conditions on PCH within its jurisdictional capacity, collaborating with law enforcement and county, and State partner agencies.
