Man jumps off parking structure in Monday suicide

A man died by suicide Monday after jumping off the Santa Monica Place parking structure. 

According to the Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD), police and the Santa Monica Fire Department (SMFD) responded to the 1500 block of 4th Street a little after 4:30 a.m. on Monday, January 11. First responders arrived to find the victim, described as a 30-year-old male, injured at the scene. According to the SMPD, police and fire crews attempted to treat the man before he died. 

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner has not yet released the identity of the man. 

The incident marks the sixth death by suicide at a downtown Santa Monica parking structure, as reported by the Santa Monica Lookout

According to the LA Coroner, there have been 14 public deaths by suicide in Santa Monica since 2018.
