New Holy Basil Location Adds Bold Thai Street Food to Santa Monica’s Dining Scene

Chef Deau and Chef Joy Open a New Westside Outpost Featuring House-Made Curries, Wok-Fired Noodles, and Seafood Specialties

Holy Basil, the acclaimed Thai street-food concept from Chef Wedchayan “Deau” Arpapornnopparat and Tongkamal “Joy” Yuon, will soft-open a new outpost in Santa Monica on Saturday, November 29, offering an intimate dining experience rooted in the flavors of their hometown, Bangkok. Before this, their popular menu was only available in Downtown L.A. and Atwater Village.

The restaurant highlights the duo’s signature approach to vibrant, ingredient-driven Thai cooking, featuring house-made curries, wok-fired noodles and rice dishes, and a selection of seafood specialties. The new location will be serving dinner from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday during Thanksgiving week, and from Thursday through Sunday the following week.

Located at Santa Monica Boulevard and Yale Street, at 2828 Santa Monica Boulevard, the restaurant is accepting reservations through OpenTable.

The menu includes a lineup of Holy Basil favorites, such as Thai-style rice bowls, Gra Pow Wagyu, Moo Krob slab, and crispy fried chicken and rice. Guests can also expect dishes like Pad See Ew, Pad Kee Mao, Grandma’s Fish and Rice, Chicken Fried Rice, and vegan-friendly options such as eggplant and kabocha squash. Curry offerings include Green Curry Shrimp (Kaeng Kiew Wan) and Shrimp Yellow Curry (Kaeng Karee), along with crispy rice salad and additional seasonal specials.
