Nine-Mile Pacific Coast Highway Stretch Reopens Four Days After Mudslides:

A nine-mile stretch of Pacific Coast Highway in Ventura County north of Malibu reopened Thursday, four days after it was closed by mudslides caused by heavy rain.

The heavily traveled stretch of PCH between Yerba Buena and Las Posas roads was closed Sunday.

Road crews had been waiting for the current storm to pass before scraping up the muck, which covered the road in three spots where it flowed over K-rails on the shoulder.

The slides, triggered by rain and clogged catch basins, were precipitated by the 2013 Springs Fire, according to Patrick Chandler of Caltrans.
