Organizers improvised and held the event in the parking lot of the building. Speakers included California State Senator Mark Ridley-Thomas, Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo, Los Angeles City Council President Eric Garcetti, Maria Elena Durazo, Ex. Secretary of the LA Labor Federation, and Mary Jane Stevenson, CA Field Director for the Obama campaign. More than 500 people signed up on the night for volunteer work. photo by Margaret Molloy
