The Santa Monica Fire Department (SMFD) made quick work putting out two brush fires that broke out along the I-10 Freeway over the weekend.

According to the SMFD, a fire was reported on Sunday around 6 a.m, alongside the Interstate 10 Freeway near 4th Street.

“The fire along the freeway embankment was an approximately 25’ by 25’ vegetation fire which was extinguished by firefighters without injuries or damage to surrounding structures,” wrote SMFD Captain Patrick Nulty.

SMFD crews put out the blaze in less than 20 minutes.

According to Nulty, the cause of the fire was undetermined.

“There was nothing suspicious in nature found by Firefighters on scene,” Nulty added.

The fire Sunday morning came just over 24 hours after a similar blaze was put out by the SMFD on the 1-10 near Lincoln Boulevard early Saturday morning. The SMFD did not immediately have more information surrounding this fire.
