Santa Monica Police Arrest Man For Stealing Bicycle, Spitting At Officers:

Santa Monica police arrested a 37-year-old man on Wednesday, Dec. 3, after the suspect spat on an officer investigating a report of a stolen bicycle.

Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called to the Santa Monica Bike Center at 1555 Second St. at 3:40 pm in order to investigate a man who had attempted to steal a bicycle from the location.

The man had been described as a white male, approximately 40 years old, wearing a black jacket, and in possession of a bicycle with the front wheel missing.

It didn’t take the officers very long to spot the suspect and they detained this man in the 300 block of Colorado Avenue.

The officers, whilst speaking with the suspect, determined that this individual was heavily intoxicated so they arrested this man for public intoxication.

After the officers had arrested the man he turned and spat at one of the officers, striking the officer with spit on the side of his face.

This Santa Monica resident was therefore encumbered with the additional charge of assault and battery on a police officers and bail was set at $20,000.
