Santa Monica’s Oldest Youth Orchestra To Host Auditions:

Elemental Strings and Band inspires young musicians to develop their musical and personal skills through weekly orchestral and band experiences.

Elemental Strings and Band invites all interested musicians currently in 2nd, 3rd or 4th grade to come audition for the upcoming season of Elemental Strings, Santa Monica’s oldest youth orchestra and band programs specifically for elementary school-aged students.

More than 500 students in the community have been part of Elemental Strings since its inception in 2004.

Executive and Artistic Director Josephine Liu Moerschel said the group was looking forward to meeting a new group of students for next season.”

“Any students who have been playing for a minimum of 8 months are invited to audition,” Moerschel said. “Our programs are a wonderful way to help students who are excited about music. They make friends from other schools to form a wonderful community, and develop a strong foundation to continue their studies in music at the middle and high school levels.”

Auditions will take place at John Adams Middle School after school on Monday, May 12 for Elemental Band, and Thursday, May 15 for Elemental Strings.
