Search Underway For Missing Scuba Diver At Catalina Island:

A report of a scuba diver in Santa Catalina’s Emerald Bay yelling “help,” then going under, prompted a search today.

A commercial dive boat captain told the Coast Guard late Monday that a diver from that boat “had surfaced, yelled ‘help’ and then went under the water,” according to the Coast Guard.

A helicopter, boats and divers were being used to look for the person.

Emerald Bay is on the west end of the island, about 2 miles northwest of Isthmus Cove at Two Harbors.
