A 50-year-old Long Beach man riding an MTA bus in Santa Monica was arrested Wednesday, Dec. 12 after an argument with another passenger led to police being called and finding him in possession of a switchblade knife.
At 8:13 p.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department went to the 1100 block of Santa Monica Boulevard after they had heard about a disturbance on board an MTA bus.
When the officers arrived they spoke with one of the two people who had been arguing (the other one had left the bus by the time the officers arrived).
This man was very argumentative and refused to cooperate with the officers. The officers decided that this man’s behavior was so aggressive they needed to conduct a pat down search of his person in order to locate any possible weapons.
The officers searched this man and found that he was in possession of a switchblade knife. This is a violation of a California Penal Code (21510 (b) PC).
The officers arrested this Long Beach resident and he was charged with possession of a switchblade knife and the ubiquitous parole violation.
Bail information was not available at time of press, however with a violation of parole, bail is invariably not availed to the offender.
