Santa Monica Pier Vandal Arrested After Damaging Pier Burger Glass Frontage: Alert Police Blotter: Etch-A-Sketch.

A teenager from Baldwin Park was arrested Saturday, March 9 for vandalizing the glass frontage of Pier Burger on the Santa Monica Pier.

At 12:40 am officers of the Santa Monica Police Department who were assigned to patrol the Santa Monica Pier were approached by a witness who told them that he had just seen a man who had appeared to be scratching words into the glass frontage of Pier Burger, located at 330 Santa Monica Pier.

The witness gave the officers a description of this man.

The officers inspected the glass frontage of the business in question and discovered some indecipherable words scratched into it.

The officers then spotted a suspect matching the description entering a tan colored Chevrolet Tahoe in the 1550 parking lot.

The officers then conducted an enforcement traffic stop.

The officers spoke with the suspect (who was the passenger of the vehicle) and discovered that he was rather intoxicated, and also in possession of an etching tool.

Based on this evidence, this 18-year-old resident of Baldwin Park was arrested and charged with vandalism, and public intoxication.

Bail was set at $20,000, while the damage to the glass was estimated to be $700.
