Samohi’s Griffin Hits Home Run

The Santa Monica High baseball team has been looking for someone besides slugging catcher Cody Decker to supply power. Now that the Ocean League schedule is about to begin that player has emerged.

Senior Garret Griffin hit a three-run homer in a recent 13-5 win over Granada Hills.

In another game, Samohi lost to Simi Valley, 9-6. The first league opponent in what promises to be a close race is Morningside this week.

Malibu Is At 6-2

The Malibu High baseball team went 2-0 in the Frontier League and 6-2 overall with a 14-6 victory over Oaks Christian. Brooks Fitch was the winning pitcher and Jamie Van Soelen hit two home runs.

Samohi Softbnll Splits Doubleheader

Santa Monica High split a doubleheader with North Torrance, winning 8-5 and losing 3-2.

New Roads Loses, 8-6

The New Roads softball team lost to Hillcrest Christian of Granada Hills, 8-6.

SMC Splits Doubleheader

Santa Monica College softball split a doubleheader with Mission College, losing 9-6 and winning, 11-8.

Brentwood Boys’ Tennis Is 5-1 Overall

The Brentwood High boys tennis team has a 5-1 record and is 2-0 in the Olympic League.

Crossroads Is 3-2 Overall Crossroads tennis is 3-2 overall and 0-1 in the Olympic League.
