Canyon School Student Is Cookie Queen…Again:

Lydia Sleeper, a fifth grade student at the Canyon Charter School, topped the 1,000 box mark for cookie sales for the second year in a row.

Her total of 1,151 boxes sold makes her one of only 13 girls in the 10,000+ member Angeles Girl Scout Council to  sell 1,000 or more boxes.

For anyone keeping a tally, 1,151 boxes equals $4,604 in sales — not bad for a 10-year old going business-to-business on Montana Avenue and San Vicente Boulevard, as well as taking phone orders from Canyon School families and working booths at grocery stores and farmers’ markets with the other girls in her troop.

Lydia’s Scout Troop 351 sold 3,783 boxes of cookies this year. It will use the funds to pay for Troop activities, including camping trips and a special weekend excursion to Disneyland in the fall.Lydia was honored at the June 7th meeting of the Brentwood Community Council with a Youth Citizenship Award in recognition of her accomplishment. She also received a Los Angeles certificate of congratulations signed by retiring District 11 Councilwoman Cindy Miscikowski.
