Library’s Summer Reading Club Begins: Theme is “Dragons, Dreams and Daring Deeds”

Children of all ages are invited to register for the free Summer Reading Club at any Santa Monica Public Library.

Children who read independently receive a special T-shirt for 15 hours of reading. Younger children, who are not able to read yet, can count the time they are read to and also receive prizes.

Sixth graders and up are invited to join Joust Read, the Library’s Teen Reading Club, and may receive prizes for reading 30 hours or more.

A variety of free activity programs, including puppets, crafts, magic, stories and theatrical programs will be offered in conjunction with the reading programs.

The Montana Avenue Branch Library, 1704 Montana Avenue, offers the special programs on Tuesdays at 2:30 p.m. Call the Montana Avenue Branch at (310) 829-7081 for more information.

The Ocean Park Branch Library, 2601 Main Street, offers special summer programs on Wednesdays at 2:30 p.m. For more information, call the Ocean Park Branch at (310) 392-3804.
