Westside Baseball Stars Named To All-CIF Teams:

Being named All-CIF is the highest individual award a high school baseball player in Southern California can achieve. With the season concluded several Westside players have been honored for the 2005 season.

Catcher Cody Decker of Santa Monica High, who has signed a letter of intent with UCLA, was named to the Division 4 first team. He was the only Viking player to be recognized.

In Division 5, senior Daniel Williams of Malibu High and senior Greg Wapnick of Brentwood made the first team.

In Division 7, senior Shotaro Yamada of New Roads made the first team and two younger teammates Matt Gray and Alex Vibiano, were chosen for the second team. Gray is a sophomore and Vibiano a freshman.El Segundo, the team that eliminated Samohi from the playoffs and went on to win the division championship at Angel Stadium, had the division Player of the Year in junior Austin Meick. El Segundo’s John Stevenson, who is in his 46th year, was named Coach of the Year.
