CA Boom II, the second annual showcase of contemporary architecture and design, opens in Santa Monica tomorrow at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium and runs through Sunday.
North America’s only multi-discipline trade fair and design show, CA Boom II combines contemporary and non-traditional architecture and interior/furniture/landscape design resources in a mix of exhibits, guided home tours and a series of panel discussions.
Six new houses in each of three neighborhoods will be featured on tours on Friday (Pacific Palisades/Brentwood), Saturday (Venice/ Mar Vista/ Marina Del Rey) and Sunday (Santa Monica/ West L.A.).
Among the architects and designers whose works will be seem are Kanner Architects, Built Inc., David Hertz AIA Architects, Vaughan Trammell Architect, AIA, Sant Architects, Inc., Roger Sherman Architecture & Urban Design, John Friedman Alice Kimm Architects, and Mark Billy & Richard Warner Architects
Panels will discuss “The State of Pre-Fab,” “The Green Revolution – Style or Substance?” “The Value of Architecture – Does Good Design Pay Off?” “Contemporary Spa Design,” “The Challenges and Rewards of Restoring an Architectural Icon,” and “Beyond the Single Family Home – New Concepts for Urban Living.”
Exhibits will cover garden and landscape as well as interior design, and will include hardware and materials as well as products, and some recently completed design projects will be unveiled.
CA Boom II opening night is Thursday, July 28, at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, home tours, panel discussions and exhibits will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Sunday from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
